2004 Highlights

2004 Season

We would like to hear from you.

We appreciate all of you who've taken the time during the past several months to check our newest feature on this website, "Last Season Highlights". We think it's a really good way for 5th Maine members, and others, to review some of the major activities that have taken place during the preceding season in our historic hall. These include important fund-raising events, programs, or major renovation projects to keep the building in sound condition (an on-going major task).

It would be great If you'd like to give us some feedback on your reaction to this new feature. We'd like to continue this series again, starting late this fall or early winter....showcasing the 04' schedule. Check the website periodically for details. Thanks so much, again, from myself (Don Perry, producer for the site) and fellow board member Joe Kane (5th Maine Webmaster). Send email to Don Perry or Joe Kane.

Sunday, July 20th, 2003. The "First Annual Antique Appraisal Day at the Fifth Maine".

Appraiser Larry Trueman, proprietor of Trueman Auction Company in Waldoboro, brought his skills to the island in what proved to be a wonderfully popular and successful new event.

Larry, a life-long summer resident of Peaks, and his wife Cathy spent a busy Sunday afternoon as numerous islanders brought in a large array of items to be appraised. Antique Appraisal Day has developed into a convenient and fun way to discover what very possibly may be hidden treasures in your home.

Similar to experiences on the popular antique shows on television, examination by a professional quite often means a few pleasant monetary surprises as well as interesting background information on appraised items.  This is just the beginning since Larry and Cathy have already volunteered to return on Sunday, the 14th of July in 2004....for our second Antique Appraisal Day.
