August 02, 2017 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Fifth Maine Regiment Museum
Aug 2 - Portraits for Beginners...inspired by the 5th Maine Portrait Collection. For adults with an interest in learning how to draw the human face.
Taught by Tory Tyler-Millar, an art teacher with over 30 years experience. Participants will refer to the portraits in the Great Hall at the 5th Maine to understand the full-on, 3/4, and profile view of the head. They will then learn to draw, in pencil, the three views. After understanding the different views of the head, the participants will draw from their own features (please bring a mirror).
For a final drawing, participants will use photo of themselves or someone whose features they find interesting. The view of the head should be large enough to see the eyes, nose, and mouth clearly.Â
Class size will be limited, and interested students should register in advance by contacting Tory at firstname.lastname@example.org The class is a fund-raiser for the Fifth Maine and costs $60. Students should bring a lunch or snack and a beverage. Â
